Question #1

Will you support a bill or ballot initiative that alters the limits on singles in a house to base it on the # of off-street parking spaces, and/or square footage or the # of bedrooms?
Answers: Paul Warner:
I do not think we need an initiative, but neighborhood meetings where the options can be fully understood without emotional decision making.
This is an issue that I believe needs to be discussed so that the occupancy number in housing can be fit the house and parking. We would need to have a formula that is well understood and have the backing of the zoning office so regular checks are made. I know we can come up with a better way of using the housing available to our singles and students.

Question #2 Is there anything that can be done besides zoning laws to control SOB's (sexually oriented businesses) within the city?
Answers: Paul Warner:
We can make sure the people of the community understand the serious problems that come from SOB's. We can teach in the schools, churches and in the media why people should not patronize these businesses in the city. We can also have neighbors have a watch group that patrols the area and reports any suspicious items to the police. The power of the people can make the difference.

Question #3 What do you think of the new parking enforcement system proposed in the Booterwatch petition?
Answers: Paul Warner:
I would need to have time to consider the proposal in more detail. It has some ideas that could work. I know we need to be careful taking on more supervision by the city when it can be done on the private market. I am open to a discussion of the option. Better ideas always need to be considered.

Question #5 Is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers?
Answers: Paul Warner:
I am grateful for the freedoms we enjoy in our country and state and city. I know we need to protect them so that government is used only when it is necessary for the safety and well being of Provo Citizens. It is important that we talk to one another without defensive feelings so all the pros and cons of all issues can be examined to determine the best ideas for current and future decisions. It is a privilege to be involved. Thanks for being involved in the process.
